Foot & Ankle Unit expands day-case keyhole surgery lists

The Foot & Ankle Unit at Croydon University Hospital has secured additional theatre sessions dedicated to day-case minimally invasive forefoot surgery. The change allows a greater proportion of bunion, lesser toe and forefoot procedures to be completed without an overnight stay.

Alongside the additional capacity, the unit has introduced a same-day discharge pathway with a nurse-led telephone review on the first post-operative day, and a standardised dressing regime that patients manage at home with written guidance.

Private patients across London, Surrey and Kent continue to be seen through the usual clinic locations, with imaging and pre-operative assessment coordinated for those travelling from further afield.
